firefox download speeds

Post by sirgeepee »

Now that I have acces to the Turboupload files, I have a new question !

Am using Firefox as my Browser, but the download speeds are astonishingly slow for some files often under 10 kbs - close to dialup.

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting faster download

IE regularly works at between 100 and 200 Kbs
DAP at similar speeds
Neither are any use for TurboUpload for me

Thanks in advance for any thoughts

generally , sites allow you to download a link at a set speed per connection, which they set.

There are download managers that you can get, that attempt to create MANY connections to the same link, each getting the same set download speed BUT a different chunk of the download.

so if you set a download running with the manager, and the manager creates 4 connections to the same 100mb file (for example), one connection will get the first 25mb's, the second connection will get a different 25mb's of the same file and so on... so you have effectivly 4 downloads running at the same time, getting all of the 100mbs. (hope that kinda makes sense) in the same sort of why that a p2p client works

cutting your download time from the site almost in half.

Some sites have ways of combatting these managers , and some do not, you just need to find out what sites. http://www.getright.com/ is a good manager.
