For people with movie problems.....

Post by wogga »

These players will play the problem videos (or they do not me).
Replace the * with a t of course.

ht*p://www.divx.com/divx/
(which I think is still free)

h*tp://www.videolan.org/vlc/
(this is certainly free and will play just about anything)

divx player will in fact play movies that are only partially download
(right click and "play with DIVX player") This is a useful feature if
you want to see that first part and preview.

If you wish to convert to mpeg format (so that you can burn to a VCD -
not a DVD - but still a disc you can play on MOST modern stand alone
DVD players (without you having a DVD burner, just an ordinary CD
burner) then I recommend TMPGEnc ( Nothing to do with yenc by the
way) which will convert (if slowly). You may also find that this will
clear up any problems of flicker book effect and slowness sometimes
found in the original. TMPEGEnc is here and I think it is still free.

If you have a few glitches in an AVI (or DIVX mpg by the way, just
change drop down box to ALL files not just avis) you may try DIVfix
which will (if there is not too much missing) repair a movie - BUT you
must check the box "cut out missing parts" or it won't work.

It free and is here (and other places)

Hope this helps

Hi Wogga,
Do you happen to know any software that can convert mpeg, avi... movies that we download to a VCD format? So that we can view from player instead of PC.

Hi Withu6969,
I use Nero Express but it came preloaded with the computer.
It will more of less convert anything into anything and back again....certainly stuff into VCD.
I don't know how much it costs 'cos I live in Japan and everything is in Yen.
Nero Express is quite a sophisticated piece of software.
Try searching on the net.
Sorry I can't be more help to you.

Can anyone else help Withu6969...???
