I first found this article about 10 years ago, via a link from 'Patches Place'. It's probably the best essay on the subject I've ever read. Highly recommended -- especially for reading by those who can't understand .... "why anyone would want to DO THAT, oooo my Gawwd!" (Not that it would necessarily change their minds, unfortunately.)
